ZhuJiajiao Water Town

Zhujiajiao is a charming water town, because of  its intricate network of canals, bridges, and historic architecture, often regarded as Oriental Venice, making it a perfect destination for a day trip to get away from bustling Shanghai.

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town is located by Dianshan Lake in Qingpu District, the western suburb of Shanghai, 48 kilometers away from the city center. It is one of the four major ancient towns in Shanghai (Nanxiang Town, Jiading Town, Songjiang Town) and a famous historical and cultural town in China. As early as 1700 years ago, there was a village market here. Zhujiajiao Ancient Town is located in Qingpu District, Shanghai, close to the Dianshan Lake Scenic Area. It is a typical ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. The streets and alleys are crisscrossed by waterways, and the environment is very elegant. There are scenic spots such as gardens and historical sites in the town, as well as many traditional specialty snacks and petty bourgeoisie shops. It is the first choice for visiting ancient towns around Shanghai.

The ancient town of Zhujiajiao is not big, you can walk around the ancient town, and it takes about half a day to walk around the town. After entering the ancient town from the entrance and exit on the south side, you will first come to Zhuxi Garden and the Humanities and Art Museum. Zhuxi Garden is a small and exquisite garden, which is now open for free.
