All of the giant pandas were born this year. One active cub even attempted to make a run for it, but took a little tumble off the stage and landed on its head. A caretaker was able to quickly rescue it and bring him back on the platform.

Giant pandas were downgraded from the endangered to vulnerable species list by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in September.

Because of an increase in available habitat, the giant panda population rose 17 percent from 20014 to 2014. As of 2014, there are 1,864 of the animals roaming through China.
