ZhangJiaJie Mount TianMen Tour
Tianmen Mountain , has an elevation of 1518.6 meters, only 8 kilometers far from the downtown and is one of the most representative natural sceneries of Zhangjiajie.
Tianmen Mountain not only attracts the attention by its miraculous and unique geographic landform and unparalleled natural landscape, but also well known for its profound cultural connotations and famous colorful humanistic sites.
Tianmen Mountain is a mountain located within Tianmen Mountain National Park, Zhangjiajie, in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China.
A cablecar was constructed by the French company Poma from nearby Zhangjiajie railway station to the top of the mountain. Tianmen Mountain Cableway is claimed in tourist publications as the “longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world”, with 98 cars and a total length of 7,455 metres (24,459 ft) and ascent of 1,279 metres (4,196 ft) The highest gradient is an unusual 37 degrees. Tourists can walk on kilometres of paths built onto the cliff face at the top of the mountain, including sections with glass floors. An 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) road with 99 bends also reaches the top of the mountain and takes visitors to Tianmen cave, a natural hole in the mountain of a height of 131.5 metres (431 ft).
A large temple is also located on the summit with chairlift or footpath access. The original temple here was built in the Tang Dynasty. Today a more recent construction with Tang dynasty architecture occupies the site and includes a vegetarian restaurant in the 10000 sq mi of setting.
On September 25, 2011 Jeb Corliss glided through the 100 feet (30 m) wide archway in the mountain using a wingsuit. The flight began from a helicopter at 6,000 feet (1,800 m), and ended with a safe landing on a nearby bridge. The World Wingsuit League held the first and second World Wingsuit Championships in Tianmen. On October 8, 2013, during a training jump for the second world championships, Viktor Kováts plunged to his death when he was unable to open his parachute.
In August 2016, a glass skywalk overlooking Tongtian Avenue, called the “Coiling Dragon Cliff,” opened to the public.

The line is 7455m long and is the longest mountain passenger ropeway in the world. It starts from the urban garden in the center of Zhangjiajie and reaches the original sky garden on the top of Tianmen. It is like a rainbow flying over the world. One of the sections with a climbing angle of up to 38° is extremely rare in China and the world. The Tianmen Mountain Cableway is located in the Tianmenshan National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie City. The ropeway is 7454 meters long and has a height difference of 1277 meters. It is the longest mountain sightseeing passenger ropeway in the world, with a one-way running time of about 28 minutes. Among them, the local slope between the station and the upper station is as high as 37 degrees, which is rare in the world. It is the most inclined cableway in China and the most ropeway. The ropeway has a total of 98 cars and 57 ropeway brackets (including 3 ambulance brackets), all of which are imported from Europe.
The Tianmen Mountain Cableway starts from the urban garden in the center of Zhangjiajie and leads directly to the original sky garden at the top of Tianmen Mountain. It is like a rainbow flying over the “human world” and “the sky”, becoming one of the “four wonders” of the Tianmen Mountain tourist scenic spot. A world-class scenic spot adds a world of wonder

With a total length of 11 kilometers, the elevation rises sharply from 200 meters to 1300 meters. The avenue rises steeply according to the form of mountain.

The 99 bends link closely with each other and pile up in layers, making a pattern of a circling flying dragon reaching the skyline. The thrilling driving experience will make you a strong heart! Through 99-bend road, travelers reach directly the 999 Tianti-celestial ladder.
Operating Hours Low Season 08:00-17:30 (1st Dec-28th Feb next year)High Season 07:30-18:00 (1st March-30th Nov)
Take a taxi, bus, or walk the 5km from town up the road to the entrance to Tianmen Mountain Park. Purchase your tickets at the entrance before taking a bus along the famous 99 bends road (word of warning for those who get easily car sick, be prepared for lots of twisting and turning). The road literally has 99 bends in it, so hold on.
The bus will drop you off at the escalators, which you can either hop on, or opt out in favor of the 999 steps instead. These will take you to “Heaven’s Gate” a natural bridge formed by water erosion in the mountain. Heaven’s Gate is also referred to as Tianmen Cave, although it’s really just a hole in the mountain.
From there you will take another set of escalators to the top of the mountain.
